JOHN A STEPHENS - NEW WAREHOUSE, OFFICES & SHOWROOM

The works comprised the construction of a new warehouse, offices and showroom together with drainage, external services and external works at Castle Meadow Road, Nottingham.

The work involved the construction of a new warehouse, with two storey workshop/office
area and single storey showroom area attached. The construction of the buildings briefly
comprised piled foundations with concrete pile caps and ground beams, re-inforced
in-situ concrete ground slab. Structural steel frame to warehouse and offices and
showroom.

External metal cladding to warehouse and metal cladding and glazed curtain
walling to offices, workshop and showroom areas. Pre-cast concrete first floor construction.
Curved metal clad roof coverings and single ply membrane roof coverings. Blockwork and
glazed internal walls and partitions.

Floor, wall and ceiling finishes in office and showroom areas. Internal and external doors including roller shutter doors to warehouse. Specialist mechanical and electrical services installation including a passenger lift installation.  

External works comprised access areas from Castle Meadow Road, concrete paved lorry
yard, tarmacadam parking concrete pavers, pedestrian areas and display area, fuel tanks,
bicycle shed, fencing, gates, walls and landscaping, foul and storm water drainage
including petrol interceptor and external services.

Internal plastered walls were a mixture of solid blockwork and timber stud
partitions and windows and external doors were timber with a limited area of aluminium
framed glazing. Internal doors were timber solid core with stainless steel ironmongery. All
necessary internal finishes to floors, walls and ceilings, along with sanitary ware and fittings
were installed to suit the proposed usage.

Mechanical and electrical services incorporated two full height ventilation stacks to minimise the requirement for mechanical ventilation, with the majority of the heating installation comprising an under-floor system.

Externally hard and soft landscaping including macadam, mixed paving types, turfed and planted areas
divided by low level fencing along with high level perimeter fencing to the play areas and
underground.

The total approximate gross internal floor area of the warehouse is 850m2, and of the
workshops/offices/showrooms is 410m2.
